New Jersey Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto (D-32) is endorsing Mayor Mike Venezia and his team ahead of Tuesday's Democratic Primary election. Speaker Prieto came to Bloomfield today to meet with Mayor Venezia, tour the township's redevelopment area and offer his support, and they were joined by Assemblyman Ralph Caputo.
"As Assembly Speaker I have made it my mission to fight for working families and stand up for Democratic values, and Mike Venezia has done the same thing here in Bloomfield," said Speaker Prieto. "From working to keep his community affordable, to standing up for progressive policies like earned sick days to investing in public safety, Mayor Venezia and his team have done an outstanding job and they deserve to continue leading this community forward."
Mayor Venezia and his running mates Council members Wartyna Davis and Carlos Pomares and Council candidate Ted Gamble will be running on the Essex County Democratic Committee line in the upcoming election.
"It is truly an honor to be endorsed by someone like Speaker Prieto who has done so much for working families in New Jersey and is always fighting for the middle class and Democratic values," said Mayor Venezia. "Our campaign has attracted the support of many of our state's Democratic leaders because our record of advocating for progressive policies and delivering for our residents, and we believe we are heading toward a solid victory on Tuesday for those very same reasons."
